Spotting Tip

I-84 through Boise and I-15 through Pocatello are the main Idaho plate highways. If you're near Yellowstone or Grand Teton, Idaho plates are common since a large portion of those parks are accessible from the Idaho side. Outdoor recreation destinations in the Mountain West are your best bet.

Fun Fact

"Famous Potatoes" has appeared on Idaho license plates since 1948 — making it one of the longest-running state plate slogans in the country. Idaho produces about one-third of all potatoes grown in the United States.
